Naval Base San Diego Wins Secretary of the Navy Safety Excellence Award

It was announced this past week that Naval Base San Diego (NBSD) was selected as the recipient of the 2010 Secretary of the Navy (SECNAV) Safety Excellence Award for safety excellence executed in 2009.

Chinese Man Sentenced in San Diego Military Smuggling Case

A Chinese man has been sentenced to eight years in federal prison for trying to smuggle restricted U.S. military equipment to his native Macau, Associated Press reports.

A federal judge in San Diego handed down the sentence Monday for Chi Tong Kuok.

New Film Documents Trauma of Iraq War Veterans

A new documentary being shown at the Venice Film Festival explores the trauma of three U.S. war veterans who served in Iraq and how the military handled their cases, according to the Associated Press.
