Home Post has an update on the story of Army Staff Sgt. Travis Mills, who lost all four limbs to an IED blast in Afghanistan on April 10th. The 25-year-old was on his third deployment to Afghanistan when he was horribly injured. Mills is a member of the 82nd Airborne Division out of Fort Bragg in North Carolina.
According to TravisMills.org:
He is only the fourth quadruple amputee, from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, to survive his injuries.
Mills has a legion of supporters who've been following his progress and recovery, thanks to a Facebook page with more than 16,000 members, which Mills' wife Kelsey updates regularly.
Since April 10th, Mills has gone through several surgeries, battled extreme pain, and was even put in a medically-induced coma, according to Kelsey's updates posted on TravisMills.org. Despite all this, Mills continues to recover at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, and yesterday Kelsey posted this remarkable video of Travis, his first since the IED blast - sense of humor and self-effacement intact.
