Retired Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf Dead At 78

Retired Gen. H. Norman Schwarzkopf, who topped an illustrious military career by commanding the U.S.-led international coalition that drove Saddam Hussein's forces out of Kuwait in 1991 but kept a low public profile in controversies over the second Gulf War against Iraq, died Thursday. He was 78.

Pentagon Starts Brain Bank To Study Combat Injuries

The Department of Defense has created a brain bank to study Traumatic Brain Injury and other wounds suffered by service members.

USA Today reports the Department of Defense has teamed up with the National Institutes of Health to develop the Center for the Study of Neuroscience and Regenerative Medicine in Bethesda, Maryland. The brain bank is one part of the new $70 million center.

Veterans Parade Float Hit By Train Ignored Warnings

A parade float filled with wounded veterans that was struck by a freight train had crossed onto the railroad tracks after warning signals were going off, investigators said Saturday.
