The Department of Defense announced the death of a Soldier who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Staff Sgt. Tyler J. Smith, 24, of Licking, Mo., died April 3, in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained when he was attacked with an enemy improvised explosive device.

Smith was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.

CAMP LEMONNIER, Djibouti (NNS) -- A U.S. Navy Sailor assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Three (NMCB 3) was found dead as the result of a non-combat related incident at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, April 7.

The incident is under investigation. The Sailor's name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
