USS Reagan Sailors File $1 Billion Suit Over Radiation Exposure (Video)

Scores of USS Ronald Reagan crew members have filed a $1 billion lawsuit against the Japanese utility that runs the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant.

The class-action suit, filed in federal court in San Diego, claims the utility lied about unsafe levels of radiation emanating from the plant after Japan's epic 2011 earthquake and tsunami.

Last U.S. Marines Leave Afghanistan's Sangin District (Video)

About 300 Marines departed Forward Operating Bases Nolay and Sabit Qadam in Sangin District, Helmand province, for the final time Sunday, bringing to an end combat operations in what was one of the bloodiest regions of the war in Afghanistan.

Twentynine Palms Marine Killed In Afghanistan

Marine Corps Sgt. Thomas Z. Spitzer, 23, was killed Wednesday in Helmand province, Afghanistan while conducting combat operations, according to the Department of Defense.

He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Twentynine Palms, California.

Spitzer was a native of New Braunfels, Texas. The Desert Sun reports he joined the Marines on Aug. 17, 2009.
