USS Peleliu Decommissioning Ceremony Slated For March

The U.S. Navy will hold a special decommissioning ceremony for the USS Peleliu on the morning of March 31, at Naval Base San Diego's Pier #7.

The Peleliu is the last ship of its kind (a Tarawa-class amphibious assault ship) and has been in service for almost 35 years.

USS Peleliu Returns To San Diego On Christmas Eve

Three ships and expeditionary Marines will from Camp Pendleton will deploy Monday to the Middle East and Western Pacific, the Navy said today.

The Peleliu Amphibious Ready Group is led by the amphibious assault ship USS Peleliu, commanded by Capt. Mark Sakaguchi.

The force also includes the amphibious transport dock USS Green Bay, dock landing ship USS Rushmore, and the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit.
